Thoughts on Abortion, Part 1

Every American knows the story. In the early '70's, the Supreme Court presided over one of the most famous law cases in American history, Roe vs. Wade. The battle was on abortion. In the end, the Court ruled in favor of Roe and the history of life was forever changed.

Since that day, abortion has played a huge part in family "planning". In the old days, children were a blessing. You welcomed however many God saw fit to send you. Today, that has all changed. Now, anything over 2.4 children (the national average) is seen as inconvenient and those unlucky children are never allowed to breathe, live, and see the light of day.

This is a huge wrong, not only to the children whose lives are forever snuffed out, but also to the entire human race. In every civilized country (and every uncivilized one), the taking of human life is seen as the greatest of crimes and in some countries and cases, punishable by death. Why then, are so many women blatantly taking human lives as if it was a matter of course? Can they not see the damage they do to their marriage, their lives, and their souls?

Woman was created by God with a special purpose. He created us to bear children and to help populate the Earth, to be Man's helpmeet. Many women see this role as degrading, as if somehow they are the slaves of men. Little do they realize that the role they play is the most important one ever given to a human by God. They share a special connection with God Himself while bearing children. We are collaborating with God during the creation of a new human life. What a role God has given us! What responsibility and dignity!

How is it then that we can throw that role and blessing from God back into His face? How can we give him one of the most ultimate insults possible, the destruction of His most noble creature? How can we feel comfortable taking those pills, using birth control, and having special procedures done? How is it possible? There is one very big and simple answer, selfishness.
